Today across All of italy the community gathers to participate in the procession of the Via Crucis. The most significante is the via crucis in Rome guided by the Pope leading the journey of Jesus last moments his 14 stages towards the mount of Calvary, from the condemnation of Pilate to his crucifixion, concluding with his death. Each year the Pope chooses a general theme which will be represented in the various stops. The theme that Pope Leo has focused on for 2026 is a call for peace, specifically inviting all of humanity to reject the thought of violence and war, and most important a world that is "unarmed and disarming" that peace is based on love and justice
