Caserta

Caserta city southern part of Italy , Just North of Naples , the old town was founded by the Lombards in the 8th Century and is now a busy modern City.Caserta is internationally known for the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site " La Reggia Di Caserta"Home to the Magnificent Royal Palace and its Gardens and Fountains which started its construction in 1752 and was ordered by Charles the 7th Of Naples ( Charles of Bourbon)  who hired the talents of the Architect Luigi Vantvitelli. The project of the Royal palace was immensely liked By the king but unfortanally he never got to spend a night there as he abdicated in the year 1759 as he left to rule spain the completion of the Palace came when his third son to the throne Ferdinando the 4th of Naples.

Caserta was also a battle ground the Battle of the Volturno (1860), the Naples Forces won over Giuseppe Garibaldi who was fighting to unify Italy

During the Bleak period of the 2nd World I the royal palace served for a time as the headquarters of the Allied command, and when the Germans in Italy surrounded the papers where signed there on the 29th April 1945.
